Are You Satisfied with Your Current Vickers Hardness Tester?

 -Vickers hardness tester HV-100 Series

Hardness testing is a critical aspect of material evaluation, ensuring that metals and alloys meet industry standards for durability and performance. Mitutoyo’s HV-110 and HV-120 Heavy-Load Vickers Hardness Testing Machines are designed to deliver precision, reliability, and efficiency in high-load testing environments. These machines are engineered to meet the demands of research facilities, quality labs, and manufacturing plants, providing consistent and repeatable results across a wide range of materials.

Challenges:

  • Implementing measures to prevent errors or falsification of test results.

  • Reducing significant variations in indentation readings between testers.

  • Multipoint tests are time-consuming, keeping workers tied up and reducing overall efficiency.

Advanced Features for Reliable Hardness Testing

Both the HV-110 and HV-120 models are equipped with a high-performance motorized test force selection system and motorized turret mounts, ensuring seamless transitions between test conditions. This automation enhances user convenience while maintaining the accuracy and consistency expected from traditional test force mechanisms. Despite their motorized components, these machines operate with the same level of certainty as manually operated test force systems, combining modern ease of use with time-tested reliability.

Test result data is automatically captured into the AVPAK software - Eliminating the risk of transcription errors or tampering.

Key Differences - HV110 vs HV-120:

  • While the HV-110 and HV-120 share many features, their primary distinction lies in their test force selection range.
  • HV-110: Capable of applying test forces between 1-50 kgf (9.807 - 490.8 N), making it suitable for applications that require higher force ranges.
  • HV-120: Designed for more granular force adjustments, this model supports test forces from 0.3-30 kgf (2.942 - 294.2 N), allowing for more refined hardness testing.

System Configurations - A, B, and D Styles

  • Each HV-110 and HV-120 system is available in three configurations—A, B, and D styles, catering to different levels of automation and user requirements.
  • A-Style Systems: While equipped with a motorized test force selection, the X and Y stage is manually controlled. The d1 and d2 measurements are manually performed by the user using either an eyepiece or a vision observation unit. An LCD display provides full control of both the lens and indenter rotary functions, as well as displaying test results.
  • B-Style Systems: These systems integrate a vision unit, PC, and AVPAK software, allowing for automatic measurement analysis of the indentation. Additionally, the rotary functions are controlled through the AVPAK software, improving accuracy and efficiency in data collection.
  • D-Style Systems: The most advanced configuration, D-style systems include a motorized X, Y, and Z stage, enabling pattern testing and Z-axis auto-focusing. These systems also incorporate all the features of the B-style system, providing fully automated control and analysis for high-efficiency hardness testing.

Automating multi-point testing minimizes waiting time and eliminates individual errors.
